MEDICAL SUPPLY SYRINGE
A
medical supply syringe is a medical instrument used to inject or
withdraw fluids. It is device containing a small needle to inject
medication or other liquids into the body tissues. A medical supply
syringe will provide unmatched performance in accuracy fluid measuring
if given with the proper care and usage.
Its long existence is directly related to the cleanliness it is
getting. It is the responsibility of the user to determine the
suitability of application and material compatibility of the products
based on its published specifications.
Solvents are known to be the optimal and effective in
solvating the sample, preferably non-alkaline, non-phosphate and
non-detergent based. However, the use of the solvents may deteriorate
adhesives used to cemented needles of the medical supply syringes
resulting in frozen plungers and plugged needles.
These adhesives are resistant adhesives used to cement needles into the
medical supply syringe. To prevent frozen plungers and plugged needles,
after the use of medical supply syringe it must be rinsed thoroughly
with deionized water, acetone, or another solvent compatible with the
sample.
Lengthened immersion while cleaning must also be avoided. Dry up the
medical supply syringe.
It is not advisable to force the liquid or compressed air through the medical
supply syringe if the needle becomes clogged.
The excessive pressure applied will split the glass barrel. The plunger must be
removed before cleaning the needle.
Cleaning wires are used to extricate any foreign material or residue build-up.
Deionized water or acetone may be used to thoroughly clean it.
Variations in liquid measurement due to the body heat may be
avoided by the grip of only the medical supply syringe flange and
plunger button.
Pump the plunger with the medical supply syringe needle immersed in the
fluid to be transferred. Through this step, any trapped air will be
expelled in the needle and medical supply syringe. Use of dry medical
supply syringe must be reduced. Carefully wipe with lint-free tissue if
the plunger is accidentally removed from the medical supply syringe
barrel.
With gastight plungers, plunger tip must be re-wet prior to reinserting
into the barrel.
Plunger touching must also be avoided since any, scratches, oil, or
abrasions from one’s fingers often interfere with proper plunger
operation.
There are different classifications of chemical process
equipment depending on the component that has to be applied with the
used of the medical supply syringe.
In gas sample, the gastight medical supply syringe is the one
appropriate. This type features a precision-machined plunger tip and is
available in variety of series with regards to the quantity that can
only be accommodated into it. Choices of microliter, modified
microliter and gastight may be used for liquid samples. Microliter is
the type which incorporates a stainless steel plunger fitted
individually to its matching medical medical supply syringe barrel.
Its plunger is not interchangeable or replaceable.
Modified microliter has the needle that essentially acts as the glass
medical supply syringe barrel.
