MEDICAL SUPPLY BABY THERMOMETER
Medical
supply baby thermometer is an instrument used to measure temperature,
which is made up of a glass tube marked with a scale and filled with a
liquid (e.g., mercury, alcohol) that rises in the tube as temperature
increases.
A medical supply baby thermometer may use a Celsius, Fahrenheit, or
Kelvin temperature scale.
It is used by means of a scale graduated in temperature units,
consisting typically of a glass bulb attached to a fine tube of glass
with a numbered scale etched on or fastened to it.
It contains a liquid, which is sealed in and rises and falls every time
there is a change in temperature.
The temperature is indicated by the number corresponding to the top of
the column of liquid.
There are two ways to take baby's temperature: Axillary’s, or
under the arm, and rectal, or in the anus.
Using a digital baby medical supply baby thermometer under the arm
results in a less accurate reading than the use of mercury one.
However, using it either for 4-5 minutes should result in a fairy
decent reading.
It should be good enough to let you know whether or not your child has
a raised or lowered temperature.
The rectal way of getting of temperature is obviously a more accurate
form of taking temperatures.
Many doctors recommend taking a rectal temperature in babies and
children 3 years of age and younger.
But in most instances, a digital medical supply baby thermometer works
faster, and is especially helpful for a small baby.
But glass-mercury medical supply baby thermometers are just as accurate
and a lot less expensive. After using the medical supply baby
thermometer, clean a glass-mercury medical supply baby thermometer with
soap and water, and sterilize it by soaking it in alcohol.
Clean a digital medical supply baby thermometer by following the
manufacturer's instructions.
For babies 6 months and younger, the axillary method is
commonly used, unless the doctor instructs otherwise.
Putting a medical supply baby thermometer in the rectum may cause
injury. If your child displays recurrent symptoms of severe illness, it
is highly suggested to take them to your doctor.
Any child with a high temperature for any considerable length of time
12-24 hours should be seen too and/or treated immediately by a doctor.
In order to help keep the temperature down and stop dehydration, it is
necessary to let your child drink a lot of fluids.
Your doctor can also administer fever-reducing drugs with approval.
